The Ohio Wetlands Foundation's first consolidated mitigation site is located near Hebron, Ohio in the east central sector of the state and is easily accessible from Interstate 70. This 33-acre site was completed and sold out by May, 1994. It has been a remarkable success.
For the first time in Ohio, a private sector organization, the Ohio Wetlands Foundation and no less than six governmental agencies, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the U.S. and Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Department of Interior, the Fish and Wildlife Service and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, have worked together to implement a unique program which allows continued economic development while restoring and preserving the aquatic resources of the state of Ohio.
