Sandy Ridge Wetlands Mitigation Bank is
located in Lorain County on land owned by Lorain County Metro Park District. The
site is being developed into a nature and wildlife preserve featuring the 115 acre
restored wetlands developed by The Ohio Wetlands Foundation. The construction was
finished during the late summer of 1998. The site already houses many species of
waterfowl and migratory birds. The park contains observation areas and is handicap
accessible.
The 87 wetland credits sold out in 1998 and the bank was used by 13 different clients.
The bank served the Rocky River, the Black River and the Cuyahoga River watersheds.
This bank was the third successful bank developed by The Ohio Wetlands Foundation.
